by: Giulia Brazzale, Luca Immesi “4ever young” is a reflective piece featuring hypnotic techniques, addressing the post-modern world of women.
It is about the obsession of western women who are forced to remain young.
The video is orchestrated to provoke and provide irony. The ritualized repetition of gestures, reduces the performer to a grotesque, unreal, mechanical object.
The performer’s face becomes a ridiculous mask without meaning.
The actual situation is a paradox: the postmodern woman is strong, multi-tasked, autonomous and has emerged from a history of oppression and exclusion, but public opinion is still dominated by chauvinistic attitudes. Society is not able to assimilate these changes.
The growth of increased female presence at all levels, from social to symbolic, has placed more demands on women to be perfect.
Western culture imposes a model of the perfect body founded on the beauty of eternal youth.
