af: Marina Eriksson This documentary is about The Temple which was the only dedicated original live music venue in Auckland for six years before they closed down. We get to meet Karen Phillpotts who ran the place when it still was at prime and The Temple provided a range of performance opportunities for both experienced accomplished performers and for “first time out of bedroom performers” and everything in between.
Karen is a passionate woman who’s dedication shows throughout in the film and smittens on to the viewer. We are meeting some of her staff members and of course we are seeing a great part of live performances and feedback from the bands who are playing there.
This film is a rarity and stand in it’s own category, even though the place had to close down two years after the film was made the place lives on through this film and it might inspire others how to nurture native music.
A must for musiclovers!
